Oct. 9: Transfer of
3409-3411: “Circa
1870, Italianate-style, three-story double; stucco over brick. The two houses
share modillioned wood cornice. 3409 has been radically colonialized circa
1950. Stucco stripped and brick painted. Aluminum shutters and asphalt-covered
hipped roof porch added. 3411 has remnant of rectangular wood porch”

In 1880, they lived at
Anna Eliza was the widow of L.
Shuster Smith (age 28, born in N.Y.) who died between 1860 and 1870. In the 1860 census he was listed as a
saddler. (The 1850 census lists an L.
Shusen Smith, age 18 living in N.Y. He had a sister names Cornelia.) Anna Smith’s mother, Ann E. Shuster, was
living with them in 1860. She was the
widow of Lawrence Shuster, a butcher, who apparently died between 1850 and
1860. She owned the real estate that was
inherited by Anna Smith.

1906, Oct. 4: Death of Ann Eliza Pastorius Smith , 70 years old, of
3411 Baring St., daughter of Lawrence Shuster.
She was born in Phila., Sept. 18, 1836.

“Mr. and Mrs. William Earley, of 3411 Baring street, will celebrate the fortieth
anniversary of their marriage Sunday afternoon with a reunion of their twelve
children and five grandchildren.”
1909, Oct. 24, Philadelphia Inquirer:
“Miss Gertrude R. Earley celebrated the eighteenth anniversary of her birth at
a coming-out party given by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Earley, at their
residence, 3411 Baring street, last evening.
Mr. Earley, who is a veteran of the Civil War, also made the occasion a
family reunion of his twelve children, of whom eight are boys; his ten grandchildren
and sons and daughters-in-law.”
