1864 and 1865 IRS lists: Charles J. Field is listed at Baring St., below 35th with an income of $4,400.

            The 1861 Directory lists FIELD&HARDIE (Charles J. Field & James G. Hardie) hardware 633 Market.

            He was a Trustee of the Penn Mutual insurance Co.

            “P. G. SKILLERN: Medical School, and was graduated with the Class of 1877. Locating in Philadelphia, he advanced rapidly both in practice and professional standing, and at the present time is one of the best-known physicians in the Quaker City. Dr. Skillern is a member of the Philadelphia Pathological Society and the County Medical Society, the Penn Historical Society and the University Club of Philadelphia. In politics he is a Republican. He married, October 7, 1879, Anna Dorsey, by whom he has two children : Penn-Gaskell, Jr., and Violet Penn-Gaskell Skillern. “

            In 1900-190, the Skillerns lived at 3509 Baring.

            Horace grew up at 3405 Hamilton St.  In 1910, Maria Louisa Hill was widowed and living at 3419 Hamilton St. with her three children.  In 1920, she and Joseph were living at 409 N. 36th St.

            “The grandfather of Christian B. was David Longenecker; born in Lancaster, Pa.; died February 24th, 1882, in Philadelphia; merchant. His wife's name was Susan E. Jungling, whose ancestors came from Germany. Their children were Henry and Jerome.
