3417 Baring Street

The History of the Building

3417-3419: “Circa 1880, Second Empire-style, two-and-one-half story, six register double at the corner of Baring and North 35th Streets. This building is wider than most others on the street; the original porch extends across this width and along the sides. All first and second floor openings have arched stone lintels. Wood cornice with decorative scrolls. Original s late mansard sheathed with asphalt shingles. Dormers have chalet-style detail across gables.”

In 1920, John, Emma Craig and Salome Camp lived at 105 S. 36^th St. Salome Camp was then 97 years old. She had immigrated from France in 1823. Emma stated that her mother was born in Alsace-Lorraine (thus explaining the apparent discrepancies across censuses) and her father was born in Prussia.
